Every now and then we see various men’s underwear brands come out with collections of nation underwear. Now underwear super brand, Calvin Klein, wants a piece of the action.
Whatever your motives, you can easily get your hands on men’s underwear in the national colors of your home country. I imagine that these items will become extremely popular in June and July 2010 when the Soccer world cup championships take place in South Africa.
Nation and flag underwear is a subject I’ve touched upon a couple of times here on Guys’ Underwear Blog. So if you want to get yourself a pair of patriotic underwear, remember to first check out
However, just the other day I noticed that Calvin Klein is also making a move into the market for nation underwear. Available at Skiviez, a new collection of Calvin Klein Global trunks will give soccer fans from the US, Spain, Brazil, Italy, England, and South Africa the opportunity to dress their private parts in their respective national colors.
The trunks are made from 45% Cotton, 42% Modal, and 13% Elastane which is soft, stretchy and usually very comfortable fabric blend.
At $28 a pop these babies are not cheap, but if you want to dress your but in nation’s colors, these trunks may be one of the best choices out there.
So guys, I was wondering… The men who visit underwear blogs – do they come in all shapes and sizes? Or are we mainly thin, big, or regular sized?
Therefore the question…
I am 32″ waist and always wear medium-sized underwear, and it is very rare that I need to size either up or down.
What about you guys, do you experience problems with choosing the right size when it comes to your underwear? Any specific brands causing you problems?
Teamm8 is that Australian men’s underwear brand that I did a post about a while back. Teamm8 offers just a few styles and some modest designs compared to some of their Australian competitors, but in the past Teamm8 has done some really saucy videos, which have been viewed by more than 100.000 men’s underwear enthusiasts!
It has been a couple of months since Teamm8’s last raunchy video, and while we wait for new ones we can still enjoy their impressive video back catalog.
I have gathered four of the best Teamm8 underwear videos. Mostly, these videos are your standard behind-the-scenes video footage of underwear photo shoots. But who are we to complain The videos still show off the Teamm8 collections really well and you get a good idea of how the underwear will look when worn (at least on fit male underwear models, ha!)
The Team8 videos give you a glimpse of loads of men’s briefs as well a few boxer briefs. Also you get to see how much work it in fact takes to make the male models look like they do in the photos. Really, it’s nice to know that it does take a lot work to make these overly fit guys look decent.
Have a look below.
I actually visited Teamm8’s website today to check out if they have some new styles coming out, but at the moment all they have coming out is a new website sometime in the near future. Can’t wait
Next is a clothing store based in the UK, and as I am in London these days I paid a visit to their flagship store on Oxford Street.
Next is your typical value-for-money clothing store, like H&M, but they also sell clothes, and more interestingly, men’s underwear online, which is what earns them a place in the spotlight on this blog.
Next is an excellent choice if you’re looking to save buck on your clothing budget. You can stock up on most of your wardrobe on the Next website. If you have a lot of different clothing items, including men’s underwear, it can be an advantage to go for an option like Next since you’ll only have to pay one shipping fee.
Of course, you have to settle with a limited selection of brands. Besides their own men’s underwear brand, Next (US) only carries Armani. However, if you pay a visit to the UK online Next store (which ships to the US for $10), you can loads of well-known men’s underwear labels, including D&G, Diesel, and Calvin Klein.
With that said, if you’re on a budget, you might as well try out Next’s in-house brand. I bought a 3-pack cotton-based boxer briefs for about $20 in the fall, and the quality is just fine, the colors hold up nicely and they still provide a proper fit.
I have taken a look at what I think is the 3 best Next men’s underwear styles, which factors in price, quality, and design. All styles are available in the online US Next store.
1. Next Black Briefs 5-Pack Every guy should have a stock of briefs for everyday wear. These 100 % cotton briefs come in either black or white and are a classic brief cut. The waistband is subtle and the overall look is quite forgiving and neutral. If you don’t give a rat’s ass about the latest men’s underwear fashion, and if you’re looking for true value-for-money underwear, these briefs may just be the answer. At $24 for five pairs, it’s hard to find better deals out there.
2. Graffiti Print Trunks 3-Pack Print designs are hot this season, and a lot of brands are coming out with new colorful prints every week. You can get in on the action with the Next Graffiti Print trunk (with fly), which is made from a standard 95 % cotton 5 % Elastane blend. This will give just enough stretch to provide a proper fit. The trunk style is comfortable to wear all day, and the funky prints will have you looking casual and fun in any situation. And don’t forget, $3o for a 3-pack is quite the good deal.
3. Next Mixed Pink Trunk 3-Pack Bright colors are a hot item right now, but you don’t have to go for all out pink, yellow, or lime green underwear everyday. These trunks will have you stealing attention with the solid colored pink trunk but will also have you looking style conscious in the white version with a hint of pink in the waistband. As above, these trunks are made from 95 % cotton and 5 % Elastane. A great buy at just $25 for 3 three pairs.
If you’ve got any experience with Next Underwear, let me know in the comments
H&M men’s underwear has come a long way the last couple of years. Yesterday I visited our local H&M store and I was pleasantly surprised by how the Swedish clothing store had evolved their men’s underwear line.
I actually own a few pair of H&M boxer briefs that I got on a vacation to Portugal last year, and you know, they’re still in my underwear drawer. This in spite of the fact that, just as all their clothes, H&M mens underwear sells at discount prices, which (usually) indicates low quality and creativity.
I am happy to report this really isn’t what I’ve experienced.
Now, if you’re still not sure that H&M men’s underwear is something for you, do go on reading. I’ve got three compelling reasons why I think this underwear label ain’t half bad.
1. Use discount underwear to diversify your underwear drawer Having a preferred discount underwear brand, that you know won’t let you down, opens up a lot of opportunities for guys with tight budgets.
You can easily get a 3-pack of H&M men’s underwear, like the cotton boxer briefs on the picture to the left, for around $20.
This means that you can get a lot different underwear styles, cuts, and designs for next to nothing. And in these troublesome financial times, this option may appeal to a lot of guys.
I would not recommend, though, that you go entirely for discount underwear. Rather, you should think like this: Instead of getting three pairs of boxer briefs at $15-20 a pair, get an H&M 3-pack at $20 and one great pair of stylish, quality underwear which usually sets you back $25-40.
In this way you will have diversified your underwear drawer so that you have something (affordable) to wear for your everyday purposes as well a few pairs of high-end, quality underwear for those special occasions.
2. Forget you prejudices! H&M men’s underwear is rather good quality
In my experience, when it comes to men’s underwear, price and quality usually go hand in hand. And to some extend this is also the case with H&M underwear. Don’t expect it to match brands like Bon Bon, Calvin Klein, or Aussiebum.
That said, H&M men’s underwear is surprisingly good quality. I still have the (95 % cotton, 5 % Elastane) boxer briefs that I bought last summer, and they haven’t lost too much stretch, fit, or color since then.
This is testament to proper manufacturing quality and the obvious advantages of economy of scale enjoyed by mega clothing chains like H&M.
3. H&M = Fun designs
One final thing you guys need to consider when thinking about getting a pair of H&M underwear is the abundance of fun designs and patterns.
Usually, low-end underwear brands do not focus on design besides traditional black and white solid colors. H&M, on the other hand, has a growing selection of colors, patters, and print designs.
Wearing a pair of H&Ms will have you looking fun and interesting in changing rooms, bedrooms, and any other room you may be wearing them in
Easter is nearing and what better way to kick off the holiday than with a good old men’s underwear fashion show from the archives.
Specifically, this 2008 video is from the guys over at Universal Gear. It features a professionally produced male underwear fashion show with some of the best brands on display, including 2(x)ist, Diesel, D&G, and C-IN2.
The show gathers all my favorite cuts such as briefs, trunks, and boxer briefs as well as a sea of low rise styles.
You can read a lot more about each of the men’s underwear brands featured on the runway here on Guys’ Underwear Blog. All of them are some of my major favorites – great quality, great designs, and best of all, there’s something for every wallet size.
Acne is part of a rare breed of interesting Scandinavian men’s underwear brands, which also includes quality brands like Björn Borg and NUN (Nation Up North).
Swedish-based Acne is a fashion company that’s been in business since 1996. Like Björn Borg and Calvin Klein, underwear is just part of their product lineup.
In fact, Acne doesn’t carry a wide collection of men’s underwear, just basic trunks, boxer shorts, and briefs. So what makes them worthy of notice?
Well, this blog is a celebration of great men’s underwear fashion and videos. And in spite of only carrying very few styles and cuts, Acne has done some quite funny and outstanding promotion videos.
Though it doesn’t seem that Acne has done any videos lately, the existing ones have already attracted more than half a million views on Youtube. Below are three of the most popular videos featuring Acne men’s underwear.
Acne is a premium underwear brand, and a pair of briefs is priced at about $38. I haven’t got any experience with the quality of Acne men’s underwear, so if you do, please share your experience with me in the comments.
The videos feature briefs, boxer briefs/trunks, and boxer shorts. The male underwear models in these videos are doing all sorts of fun activities in their underwear like dancing, doing gymnastics, jumping on trampolines.
UW is a Brazilian brand that I was totally unfamiliar with until recently. Via Finíssimo and Made In Brazil this men’s and women’s fashion brand made its way onto my radar a couple of days ago.
Specifically, it was the video footage and still photos from the 2010 underwear fashion show by UW that caught my eye. I’ve gathered a selection of the best pics as well as the fashion video below. I also included the 2009 UW underwear fashion show video as it shows off more of their men’s underwear styles.
I’ve been trying to dig up some info on UW, and especially their men’s underwear collection, but even a fairly persistent effort on Google (including some very amusing Portuguese-to-English Google translations) didn’t give much of a result. So if any of you guys have some info on UW, please share it in the comments.
The UW men’s underwear styles look really high-end, and I’d love to get some more info in terms of fabric blends, colors, styles, and so on. Once I get it, I’ll share it with you here on the blog.
The styles included in the videos include briefs, square cuts, boxer briefs, trunks, long underwear, and boxer shorts.
These last few days, I’ve been blabbering on about Bon Bon and the greatness of their men’s underwear collection. Today is the last post about Bon Bon for now.
I know it must’ve looked like I am on Bon Bon’s payroll or something (I’m not…yet, haha). But seriously, with so many new men’s underwear brands popping up these days, I make an effort to point you guys in the direction of those brands that are truly worthy of notice – and your cash.
And to all you up-and-coming underwear brands out there, a word of advise. The road to success in the market for high end men’s fashion underwear goes through Youtube and the community of underwear bloggers. A great set of photos and a few videos will get you valueable attention. Just look at the way Bon Bon and some of the other brands featured here at the Guys’ Underwear Blog have done it
